FYDP Update
Spin Radio at Farsley Youth Development Project has been awarded a grant which FYDP is using to give the Spin Radio base a complete make-over!
The current station is being extended to create a bigger studio space, the inside is being completely refurbished- new floors, new paint, new furniture and lots of great equipment to ensure the continuing success of Spin Radio.
This project means that in the future many more young people will be able to volunteer at the station, get some new skills, experience in radio and generally have fun whilst trying something new. In turn the wider community will benefit from those young people who are putting back into the community via radio. So far only some initial planning work has been carried out but soon enough the brand new Spin Radio will be up and running- just in time for the next two week broadcast of the year.
Watch this space for photos and more updates as the Spin Radio remodelling progresses.
Pick of the best…
Have a listen to some of the best bits of our recent shows.
People tell us they really like the Spin Radio name and logo, and perhaps that’s because lots of you were involved in helping to come up with the ideas.
Choosing a name for the station prompted lots of discussion and votes on the website for your favourite name. Young people from the community were involved in working on these ideas and developing designs for the logo.
So the “Spin Radio” name and logo came about as the result of all of your ideas, and we wanted to show you some of the great designs that formed part of the process:
Young people from Farsley have been busy creating their very own community radio station. With all programmes and the station branding created by the young people themselves, the launch of Spin Radio will be one of the highlights of Farsley Community Festival, taking place at Hainsworth Park on 17 July. The station will be broadcasting live from the Festival for the whole day.
You can get involved in the station on festival day by bringing along a song that you love on CD, mp3 or vinyl and we’ll play it on Farsley’s very own desert island – which includes the festival’s very own beach, complete with sand, palm trees and smoothie bar.
Programmes from Spin will be available to hear on this website.

Today at 5pm Spin was finally broadcast over the internet. Well that was the plan, in fact we have had a few teething problems but please stick with us, it is going to be worth the wait. The young people have been improving their djing skills and we are really excited about the shows that we have lined up for you to listen to.
