Farsley in Bloom
FYDP are helping to set up the very first Farsley in Bloom.
Its not just about hanging baskets, it could be a herb garden or an allotment.
If you would like to be involved or just want to find out more please come along to the next Farsley in Bloom meeting on Thursday 12th November at 6.45pm in St John’s Parish Church.
Community Festival 09
Over 4000 people gathered on Hainsworth Park in July for a sun-soaked day of fun and activities at the fourth Farsley Community Festival. This year FYDP worked in partnership with I Love West Leeds to put on the biggest and best festival yet.
The day was only made possible by over twenty young people from the project, who gave up their Saturday to work on the festival – many of them arriving at 7 am in the morning and not leaving until the end of the day. Many other local people and businesses were involved, including the churches, who gave away over 800 free banana splits and The Village Bistro – who, as well as providing a great barbeque, raised money for a community gardening project by being locked up in stocks and pelted with tomatoes
Other highlights included street theatre, a radio station run by the young people of Farsley, fantastic entertainment from some pesky mountain gorillas, workshops, vegetable nannies, giant inflatables, food, facepainting, a pamper tent, underpant escapology, music, loads of games and sports, and the return of Farsley’s famous beach resort.
